Meeting Minutes and Discussion of Future Topics

Our meetup this week included newmembers of the Lug. We made the following decisions:

1- Marlyn will check with New England Tech to see if we can get a classroom where we can organize meetings. This is based on Mark Mathews experience with them before. This allows us to make presentations and do activities that we otherwise could not do in a public place [which is usually noisy].

2- Future topics will include the following: [anyone is welcome to add to those]

  • Samba - presentation by Mark Mathews.
  • Security on Linux [locking down a Linux box] - Mark Mathews.
  • Python Programming - Forrest
  • Philosophy behind Unix - Mike Zigamorph
  • Linksys [Mike Zigmamorph
  • Book Reviews [anyone is welcome to do that]
  • Gimp
  • Differences between KDE and Gnome
  • Media apps on Linux
  • Discussion about advantages and disadvantages of different media types [.ogg, mp3, etc]

Should we get the New England Tech place by next meeting, Mark will make the Samba presentation.
